It's champagne football as Boateng KO'd by drinks trolley

HERE'S another one to add to the long list of odd injury mishaps (like Liam Lawrence tripping over his dog back in 2008).

Manchester City new-boy Jerome Boateng has aggravated a knee injury -- after smacking it on an airplane drinks trolley.

And the Germany defender is now expected to miss the next month of his first season in Eastlands.

Boateng tore a tendon in his left knee during Germany's 2-2 draw against Denmark earlier this month -- but aggravated the injury on the way home.

The fact that the defender is 6ft4in must have played a part in the incident -- his height must have meant an aisle seat, which would have put him at the mercy of a roaming drinks trolley. His positional awareness must be questioned, though.

"I imagined my start at City to be quite different, of course," the 22-year-old said.

"Even in my first game with City against Valencia (in a friendly), I had problems with the knee from the (Germany) match in Copenhagen."

Boateng hopes to back in training towards the end of September.
