In brief: DCU Kill' off unbeaten run

Killester had 10 wins out of 10 ahead of this fixture, but Vinny O'Keeffe's DCU side stunned the champions with a complete team display. Martins Provizors and Mark Nagle shared 38 points, while Eoin Darling and Emmet Donnelly shot 15 points apiece.

"You are never going to beat Killester by 20 points," said O'Keeffe. "But we had a fantastic team performance and even when they started coming back, we still held our heads."

Colts and Packers with Seahawks in play-offs

GRIDIRON: The Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks secured places in the play-offs as the NFL's regular season came to an end.

The Packers beat the Chicago Bears 10-3 and will visit the Philadelphia Eagles in the wildcard round next week. The Colts won the AFC South title by beating the Tennessee Titans 23-20. They will host the New York Jets in their game on Saturday.

The New Orleans Saints lost 23-13 at home to Tampa Bay but had already assured themselves of a wildcard spot.

The Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers secured divisional titles with convincing wins. The Falcons (13-3) wrapped up the NFC South with a 31-10 win over the Carolina Panthers.

The Steelers (12-4) won the AFC North and a bye week by hammering the Cleveland Browns 41-9 on the road.

Britton blazes to new record in Brennan 5k

Athletics: Fionnuala Britton continued her good form with a record-breaking win in the Tom Brennan Memorial 5km road race in the Phoenix Park on Saturday.

Britton put in a powerful display of front-running to win in 16 minutes and 39 seconds, 16 seconds inside Roisin McGettigan's previous course record.

Her Sli Cualann team-mate Deirdre Byrne was second in 17:03, with Raheny's Lorraine Manning third in 17:18.

Front-running also paid dividends for Tallaght AC's Tomas Fitzpatrick, who won the men's race in 14:54, 11 seconds clear of Annadale's Eddie McGinley (15:05), with North Down's Niall Robinson (15:41) taking third.
