Hushovd Copenhagen favourite

Copenhagen is a modern city with the bicycle in mind and it is no surprise it's currently playing host to the World Championships, which culminate with the elite men's road race tomorrow.

Former Irish National Road champion Matt Brammeier kept the Irish on the edge of their seats with an audacious break last year in Geelong, Australia. However, he paid the price as the Liverpudlian was not among the finishers.

Tomorrow, Brammeier could have the fortune to show off the Irish colours again along with team colleagues Nicholas Roche, Daniel Martin and David McCann.

The real problem will be the distance of the 266km course, 17 laps of a 14km circuit plus a roll out of 28km from the start in the main square. Last year's winner, Norwegian Thor Hushovd, looks the favourite.
