Hidden gem in Loughlinstown is ideal place to get in the swing

AN oasis off the busy dual carriageway across the road from the hospital.

They say the Loughlinstown Pitch and Putt Club is a hidden gem, and they are right.

The fairways are tree-lined like Augusta, and a quiet little river steals by.

Loughlinstown have some top players on their books and they are sure to have many more.

The course is in excellent shape -- populated by razor sharp greens and tricky bunkers.

Officials deserve the highest praise for it's condition. It took a mountain of work.

Part of the course had to be dug up to allow for pipe laying for the new houses on the Commons Road.

But the Loughlinstown lions moved heaven and earth to mould it back into the circuit it is today.

It has a neat clubhouse, and a friendly welcome. And now that there's a little stretch in the evenings, there's no better time to join the swing.

As they say, pitch and putt is a good walk enhanced. More information is available by calling 01-276 2819.
