Glenanne and Fingal bag byes into second round

HOCKEY: Glenanne and Fingal have both received byes into the second round of the men's Irish Senior Cup, with the first round of matches taking place on Saturday.

Defending champions Pembroke Wanderers play host to Bangor in Ballsbridge, while YMCA, Three Rock Rovers, UCD and Railway Union (who play Corinthians) also have home fixtures.

In the ESB Women's Irish Cup semi-finals, defending champions UCD have home advantage at Belfield against Loreto, while Railway Union travel to Belfast to play Pegasus.

Six Leinster players have made the Irish U18 girls' panel for the forthcoming season. Deirdre Duke retains her place while Emily Beatty, Lisa McCarthy and Aisling Naughton move up from the Irish U16 squad. Also included are goalkeeper Rachel Barnett and striker Patricia O'Dwyer.

The highlight of the year is a four-nations tournament in Cork in July.
