Foroughi is to the fore


A TOTAL of 6.227 points gave Koroush Foroughi of Star of the Sea the men's decathlon title at the Glo Health National Combined Events Championships in Templemore.

Second was Michael Bowler of KCH (Kilkenny City Harriers), while third was Trim's Shane Aston.

Foroughi's 2.03m high jump proved critical.

In three solo efforts, Bohermeen's Karen Dunne won the women's senior heptathlon Amy McTeggart of Boyne the junior women's title and Donore's Rolous Olusa the junior men's decathlon.

In the youth competition, Laura Quigley  of Celbridge won the girls' title while Thomas Connolly  of Le Cheile beat DSD (Dundrum South Dublin) David Dagg for the boys' title.
