éanna turn tide after break to snatch title

TWO second-half goals -- from John Breen and Finnian McDonagh -- propelled Coláiste éanna to a 3-12 to 2-8 triumph over Cistercian Roscrea in a titanic Leinster final at O'Moore Park last week.

The Dubs were trailing by two points at half-time, but they turned the tide in the second half by out-scoring their opponents 2-6 to 1-4 with a fantastic scoring exhibition.

The Roscrea outfit were by far the better side in the opening period with some fine play from Cork native Jack O'Driscoll and David King pushing them ahead 1-6 to 1-4 at the interval.

The opening score of the game arrived in the first minute when a long-range shot from Seán O'Shea found its way to the net.

Roscrea battled back with David King firing past Conor Dooley to narrow the margin to a single point. Both sides matched each other tit-for-tat for the remainder of the half with the only notable action coming from Roscrea keeper Barry Nash as he pulled off a fine stop from Niall Ryan.

However, éanna found their range in the second period with the goals from Breen, dispatched from a penalty, and McDonagh proving vital as the Dublin boys lifted their school's first Leinster title.
