Dutch braced for Irish invasion with Nassau International on the horizon

FANCY going Dutch? Put the weekend of August 14-15 in your diary.

The good people of the Netherlands are hoping for the best in South Africa, but they still took the time to issue a special invitation to Ireland.

The Nassau International Dutch Open takes place at the spectacular Bussloo course. It will involve three rounds of 18 hole strokeplay.

There's €1,200 in prize money to be won. Nassau Golfballs are the sponsors. There will be no lack of top-class entertainment and activity available; 144 players will take part.

Last year Meath's Ian Farrelly took the claret jug. Patrick Luning and Ralf Kwant, both from the host country, were in the top three.

The Irish featured strongly on the leaderboard. Among them were James Carroll, Anto Kavanagh, Jim Judge and Anto Gray.

Holland's Herma Kleinlugtenbeld took the women's gold. Ireland's Liz Quinn was runner-up.
