Dubs to mix it at Fermoy

DUBLIN has a proud association with the National Mixed Foursomes Championships, the final of which takes place tomorrow in Fermoy.

The last time it was staged at the Cork venue, back in 1987, Dublin won when the Mahonys of RGSC were successful.

Last year's event was held at RGSC, and again the Dubs took gold.

Lucan duo, Brenda Purcell and Paul Dillon, showed commendable temperament to secure the prize over the last three holes.

The previous victory for the capital came at Lucan in 2005.

The competition began in 1971. Ierne hosted it for the first two years.

Ierne's name was also in lights when the Horan duo lifted the crown at IGB in '97.
