Derek Rodgers (Col Choilm)

Following a thrilling 3-16 to 1-17 victory over Lucan CBS on Tuesday afternoon, Coláiste Choilm of Swords can now look forward to the Dublin Schools Junior 'C' Hurling final with plenty of confidence.

It was an excellent team display, with many Choilm players stepping up to the plate against a well-prepared Lucan CBS outfit, but they nevertheless had a stand-out performance from centre-forward Derek Rodgers.

The dynamic No 11 finished with an exceptional tally of 1-12, and was a real driving force on the '40' for Damien Burke's side over the course of the contest.

In the space of 17 second-half minutes, Rodgers contributed seven consecutive points for his school, and this outstanding contribution to Coláiste Choilm's cause makes him a worthy recipient of this week's award.
