RUGBY: Former Ireland international Girvan Dempsey has been appointed as a Leinster Elite Player Development Officer.
He said: "Leinster's underage set-up is among the strongest in Europe and the challenge over the coming years will be in maintaining and improving the standards and the playing numbers."
Dempsey has been assisting at his former alma-mater Terenure College and its parent rugby club in the All-Ireland League.
Pakistan to probe bribes
CRICKET: Pakistan's top crime investigative agency will send a team to Britain this week to probe corruption allegations against some of the country's cricket players, a senior official said today.
Investigations by British police and the International Cricket Council (ICC) are under way into a newspaper report alleging three Pakistan players had been bribed to fix incidents in last week's fourth Test with England.
Illness strikes Team Sky
CYCLING: A mystery illness has struck Team Sky, forcing two riders to abandon the Tour of Spain during the third stage yesterday, with three others feeling sick.
"John Lee (Augustyn) and Ben (Swift) both pulled out today because they could not continue as they were so sick," said team principal Dave Brailsford.
Belgium's Philippe Gilbert won the third stage and took the overall lead. Nicolas Roche finished sixth and is 24th overall.
