Cyclone signs up Belfast hopefuls

It's a knock-out! Barry McGuigan has been so impressed by the displays of Belfast boxers Marc McCullough and Jamie Conlan that he's signed them to long-term deals with Cyclone Promotions.

"Marc and Jamie can go on to achieve great things," says McGuigan, who was impressed how both boxers knocked out their respective opponents on the undercard of the last Carl Frampton event at the Odyssey.

Current Irish featherweight champion McCullough (8-1, 5KOs) stopped former European champion Willie "Big Bang" Casey in the ninth round. Super flyweight Conlan (10-0, 6 KOs) had his opponent down twice in the first before the ref stopped the fight.

"I believe I'm knocking on the door of major titles," said Conlan. Both men will be on the bill in Belfast on April 6 when Frampton meets Hugo Cazares in a WBC world super-bantamweight title eliminator. McCullough will dispute the vacant WBO European title with experienced Andrei Isaeu (25-4, 7KOs). "I want to make a statement and get my name out there," said McCullough.
