Niall Corbett, the UCD Under 19s 'keeper, has been called into the Ireland squad as a replacement for Michael Slingermann ahead of the World University Games set for Kazan, Russia next month.
Team manager Danny Crowley was forced to find a second goalkeeper after Drogheda United indicated that Slingermann would be required for club commitments during the period of the tournament which runs from July 5-16, with the squad departing on June 30.
Meanwhile the Ireland boys had a full day's training at the AUL Complex plus a warm-up game against the Republic of Ireland Under 19s at Johnstown House over the bank holiday weekend, where a second-half penalty from West Ham United striker Sean Maguire for Paul Doolin's outfit cancelled out Cillian Morrison's fine individual first-half strike.
Crowley continued the preparations yesterday at Phoenix FC and a strong St Patrick's Athletic, with goals from Conor Murphy and Sean Gannon, ran out 2-1 winners.
Next up for Crowley is a fixture against the Northern Ireland Amateur Internationals at Inver Park Larne next Sunday, 1.0.
