coerver's a hit at otcdc

COERVER Coaching hosted a weekend at the Oscar Traynor Coaching Centre that drew coaching from north and south of the border.

Facilitated by ex-pro footballer Austin Speight of Coerver Coaching Ireland, the line-up of professionals giving workshops included Darragh Droog, a Strength and Conditioning coach who works with Munster Rugby as well as Tom Bates WBA Elite performance coach/sports physcologists.

Austin Speight delivered a module developing play from 1v1 to 11v11 fast break attack and following ther recent tie-up with Shelbourne, the coaches were able to call on the club's Under 16 who were superb.

Over 60 coaches attended travelling from such locations as Armagh, Belfast, Clare, Cork, Galway, Dublin and Limerick.

The next CPD Course will be in Dublin in September at Tolka Park.

A Youth Diploma will take place on August 18 and 19 and will be hosted by Austin Speight and at Tolka Park co founder Alf Galustian.

Alo Byrne was a coach in attendance and he claimed it was a fantasic weekend.

"There was some brilliant and insightful knowledge on elite performance and ball mastery being delivered over the two days, Coerver never fails to deliver and with Darragh Droog taking the strength and conditioning and West Broms Tom Batessharing his knowledge of sports psychology and peak performance, it made for the perfect weekend by which to further your coaching knowledge. Can't wait for the next weekend".

Meanwhile, Mitch Whitty NDSL director of coaching, said: "It was a top class weekend from Austin and the team again. The Coerver session's at NDSL have always been 10/10 success and this was no different at all. Fiona Mooney of Camlough FC in Armagh said: "Real eye opener on top class coaching, we lack so much of this here in soccer, this is the best course I have ever attended."
