Boyle bags revered Peard award

RACHEL BOYLE is the latest deserving recipient of the Sue Peard Award.

This award is in recognition of a player leaving the juvenile ranks.

The Leinster Badminton Youth Activities Committee (YAC) vote for the player deemed to have shown outstanding sportsmanship, skill and achievement through the various stages of underage badminton.

Seventeen-year-old Boyle is a student at Portmarnock CS.

The fifth-year student has played badminton from the age of 10 and has represented Leinster in various age-groups.

Rachel has two sisters, Lisa and Sara, and an older brother, John.

Her proud parents, Patricia and Conor, are known to have hit a shuttle once or twice, although they are mainly a big GAA family.

But that is no surprise as Rachel's granddad played for Dublin - Rachel also played camogie for Dublin at underage level. She recently represented Leinster in the infamous Nott's Tournament and plays her badminton in Kadca BC.
