Birdies galore as Golf Classic descends on St Margaret's

THERE are blue jackets to be won. The third Dublin Ladies Golf Classic is on next Friday. It takes place at the elegant St Margaret's club. There will be birdies galore. There will some smashing players teeing off.

There are still places left. It's €300 for a fourball.

For that, you get the golf, a meal, prizes and even a barbecue on the ninth hole.

"It's always such a great social occasion," says Dublin official Kathleen Colreavy.

"It's always well supported and it's such an enjoyable day.

"Last year was very successful. The St Margaret's people couldn't have done enough for us.

"We were also very lucky with the weather. So hopefully the sun will be shining again."

The classic is a big fundraiser for the Dublin ladies, and they remain grateful for all those who take part.

And this time the players even have a hole-in-one on their card without hitting a ball.

The cost is cheaper than last year, so that's as good a start as hitting it straight down the middle of the fairway.
