Basketball: Dublin Inter battling to knock Neptune out of National Cup orbit

This weekend, National Cup fever takes over with January's semi-final slots up for grabs.

For those teams currently enduring undesirable league positions, the cup quarter-finals offer them the opportunity to shake things up as they look to progress to the next round.

Tonight, no other team will enter with more determination than newcomers Dublin Inter, as they look to make history for their club at their first opportunity to chase a SuperLeague National Cup title. However, this weekend Inter, under newly appointed head coach Irmantas Griksas, will face off against Bord Gais Neptune.

Last year's champions, UL Eagles, will take on Killester in Limerick. To date, the Eagles are enjoying a successful campaign as they occupy the number one position in the league. However, Killester will come all guns blazing with their recent signing Michael Bonaparte and a significant win over UCC Demons last weekend.

UCD Marian will venture to Galway in the hope that they can reignite their cup ambition after a lacklustre attempt at the league title. Tomorrow, last year's defeated cup finalists, UCC Demons, will take on DCU Saints.

This match-up will prove a real test for both sides as their league encounter back in October saw the Cork side claim victory with a one-point win.

Tonight, in the Nivea Women's SuperLeague, last year's champions, UL Huskies, will square off against a resilient Singleton SuperValu Brunell.
