Barnes in line for Shiming rematch

BOXING: Paddy Barnes could be in line for a rematch of his 2008 Olympic semi-final with China's Zou Shiming at the 39th Chemistry Cup in Germany.

The 20-nation tournament was set to begin today in Halle, Germany, and Barnes and Shiming are two of nine boxers entered in the light-flyweight category.

Barnes had to settle for bronze in Beijing after he was beaten by Shiming, who went on to win gold.

European champion Joe Ward will be trading leather in a competitive light-heavyweight division which includes 2009 World champion Egor Mekhonstev of Russia.

Bowtell shocks second seed

Tennis: Ireland's Amy Bowtell yesterday produced another stunning performance when she dumped out the No2 seed in the ITF Circuit event in Bath, England.

The unseeded 18-year-old from Greystones scored a 7-5 6-1 win over Britain's Emily Webley-Smith.

Bowtell was today due to take on 19-year-old Spaniard Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor.

Michael's reach sixth final in row
