BALBRIGGAN Community College and Loreto Secondary School will represent Leinster at next week's FAI Schools National First Year Futsal Finals.
The Dublin and Kilkenny schools captured boys' and girls' section glory respectively in the provincial finals at Franciscan College, Gormanston.
The Meath venue will also host the national conclusion next Wednesday as eight schools from the four provinces target success.
In its fifth year, the competition progresses from county finals to four provincial deciders – with 240 students from 20 schools competing in last week's Leinster showpiece.
The Leinster finals day was divided into two sections, boys and girls, with eight county winners competing in two groups in each section.
The group winners progressed to the section final and the first final of the day saw Balbriggan take on Boyne CS.
Balbriggan CC were following in the footsteps of Loreto College, Balbriggan, who won last year's Leinster girls' section and they saw off last year's boys winners, Dublin Oak, in the group stages.
A 1-1 draw with Boyne in the decider meant a penalty shootout was required and Balbriggan progressed thanks to a 2-1 victory.
In the girls' section, the two Loretos – Kilkenny and Crumlin – clashed in the decider after an exciting day of action.
Loreto Crumlin had seen off the challenge of rivals Loreto Bray, amongst others in their group, but were dispatched 1-0 by their Kilkenny counterparts in the final.
