Allen 'disgusted' with Chinese rival

SNOOKER: Ronnie O'Sullivan was set to make his Crucible entrance today but the prospect of his clash of styles with Peter Ebdon has been overshadowed by a row sparked by Mark Allen.

Allen, the 26-year-old Antrim player, last night bowed out of the World Championship and accused his surprise conqueror Cao Yupeng of failing to own up to a "blatant" push shot in frame 10, at a pivotal stage in the match.

Ken Doherty suffered a quick exit on his return to the Crucible as 2010 world champion Neil Robertson completed a 10-4 victory over the Dubliner.

CYCLING: Ireland's Dan Martin just missed out on a podium place in a World Tour classic for the second time this week when he finished a fantastic fifth at 'La Doyenne' of the early season classics, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, in Belgium. Martin's cousin Nicolas Roche crossed the line 12 minutes behind surprise winner Maxim Iglinsky.
