Old Bawn the new kids on the Senior Cup block

OLD BAWN Community School continued the trend of underdogs stealing the show in the Leinster Senior Boys Cup last week.

The Tallaght school stunned last year's beaten semi-finalists Templeogue College 3-1 in the last-32 of the Under-20 competition.

Oisín Finnegan, Vinny Ogbe and Jay McClelland were on target as the Senior Cup novices set-up a third-round clash with Colaiste Eanna CBS.

After Drimnagh Castle knocked out 2013 winners St Benildus College, Eanna looked to have another massive test, but received a walkover from the former.

Last year's beaten finalists Confey College will play Ardscoil Na Trionoide, Athy in a delayed second-round game, knowing 2009 winners Salesian College await in the last-16.

Japhet Agustin (2), Tommy Ilunga and Andy O'Reilly were on target as the Celbridge side beat Mercy SS, Ballymahon.

St Aidan's CBS, Whitehall edged out Portmarnock CS in a 3-2 thriller to set-up a third-round clash with CBS St Paul's.
