Na Fianna keeping the dream alive on Mobhi Road

DUBLIN champs, Na Fianna, will meet Sarsfields of Laois in the Tesco Leinster Senior Club Championship final.

They defeated Seneschalstown of Meath on the Mobhi Road last Sunday afternoon.

Orlagh Egan had an hour to remember. She hit two goals and eleven points.

"Scoring 2-11 from 2-15 is a phenomenal performance," states Glasnevin manager, Ray Dorney.

"She was outstanding. I think six or seven of the points came from frees.

"But, overall, it was a very solid team display. Everybody made a contribution, and the players that came off the bench did well."

Na Fianna led by 0-9 to 0-7 at half-time. "The first half was pretty close.

"But we got the goal early in the second half and we managed to kick on from there.

"Then Orlagh got a second soon after, and there was no way back after that."

Conditions were good in Dublin 9. There was a fine attendance.

They enjoyed some excellent football. But the hosts began to dominate in the second period.

Their fitness, and sharp use of the ball, saw them pull away from the resolute Royals.

"We are thrilled we got over the line. That's what these matches are all about.

"It's great to be in the Leinster final. We have two weeks to get ready," says Ray.
