Mobhi Minor Maestros make history

MINOR Championship glory for Na Fianna .... at last. They (pictured) collected the 'We Are Dublin' Minor 'B' Championship crown at Parnell's last Sunday morning.

They overcame Ballinteer St John's in a terrific tussle.

"Na Fianna were in four minor finals before and we never won any of them," explained Mobhi

mentor, Mary O'Connell.

The Glasnevin girls had the right balance of youth and wisdom. "Playing at minor helps prepare players for the adult grade. It's the ideal platform for when they come out of the U16 structure. We have girls as young as 15 and 16 playing at the minor grade, so that is really encouraging," adds Mary.

"We have players looking to get onto the Dublin U16 Development squad, and we had four players going forward for the county minor trials.

"We also had four girls in for the Dublin senior trials, so all of that augurs well. Winning this Championship is a nice boost. And it's the perfect way to end the year."
