Minalisa gets vote in Ayr race for Gold

After the excitement of Irish Champions Weekend, the English St Leger and the Longchamps trials day all taking place last weekend, things are a bit more subdued this week but there is plenty of prize money on offer in Scotland with the Ayr Gold Cup featuring.

With no Flat racing taking place in Ireland, a number of our leading jockeys are Ayr bound and a few Irish trainers also. In the middle of his best season for a few years, Fran Berry can make his year even better after landing the decent looking spare ride on Minalisa for Rae Guest and the 25/1 shot could run a big race.

The five-year-old is probably drawn on the wrong side in stall two but hopefully that bias won't make a massive difference and the lightly raced daughter of Oasis Dream can follow up her most recent win at Naas ahead of Tobann and make a big impression here.

Ger Lyons and Tommy Stack are both represented in the Group Three Firth Of Clyde Stakes and it will be interesting to see how Lyons' Ainippe gets on when stepping up a furlong after finishing fifth in the Flying Childers at Doncaster last week, while Stack's runner is the Billy Lee-ridden Blackbriar.

Stack is also represented at Newbury in the Group Three Dubai International Airport World Trophy as the four-year-old Scream Blue Murder will try and follow up a recent win in the Phoenix Sprint at odds of 20/1.

This looks a trappy little field, though, and if Moviesta puts his best foot forward for Bryan Smart and Paul Mulrennan he should be hard to beat for the part-ownership of QPR manager Harry Redknapp.
