McEvoy steals the show for Bray girls with a vital brace

ALANNAH McEvoy was the hero as Loreto College, Bray, kicked off their Leinster Minor Cup campaign with a narrow win.

The striker's brace was enough to secure a 2-1 victory at Presentation College, Kilkenny, and set-up an exciting Dublin derby.

Next up is a last-16 battle of the Loreto Colleges, with their namesakes from Crumlin making the short trip out to the coast.

Crumlin received a bye beyond the first round, just like St Joseph's Presentation Convent, Lucan, who will face St Peter's Dunboyne in the last-16.

Peter's produced the performance of the opening round to beat traditional heavyweights Alexandra College 4-1 away from home.

Loreto Secondary School, Balbriggan, face a daunting trip to another big gun, Eureka Secondary School, Kells, while St MacDara's, Templeogue, travel to Coláiste Bríde in Enniscorthy.

Palmerstown CS are away at Sacred Heart, Tullamore.
