Mayo can spark
the race for Sam into life

After the disappointment of last week's game, let's hope the football championship can awake from its slumber sometime soon.

Two games this weekend may just give it the spark it needs. A rejuvenated Galway head to Castlebar to take on Mayo in their own back yard whilst Tyrone will meet Armagh in Round 3 of the qualifiers.

Mayo struggled for large periods against Roscommon but showed character to pull through in the end. Galway were always in control and looked impressive at times against Sligo but they will face a seasoned Mayo outfit this Sunday.

Whilst Galway may put it up to James Horan's men for long periods, I expect Mayo to progress and take another Connacht title.

A war of attrition can be expected up north when Tyrone meet Armagh.

The Orchard men have grown in stature and confidence over the recent weeks and they will believe they can take out one of their closest rivals in Tyrone.

Mickey Harte's team look better placed to progress in what could be a game decided by the narrowest of margins. Tyrone experience may just pull them through.
