One of the most delightful initiatives of recent years was the Legends tournament. It celebrates the memory of Biddy Phillips.
This season was the fourth staging of the event. It was held at St Brigid’s. Tipperary, Biddy’s native county, beat Dublin in the final.
It is a 7-a-side format. Mary O’Connor would love to see the Legends Tournament grow and prosper. She’d welcome ideas to email@example.com
Maybe one would be to stage the Legends final in Croke Park. It is played on the weekend of the All-Ireland Club finals.
“It was great to renew acquaintances. I’m sure many thought their days of playing for the county were long gone.
“The weekend proved we have a fantastic game and really special people involved in the association.
“As the old saying does, the clock does not be long turning’ so keep the boots polished and the hurleys ready.”
