Zip Top has potential to surprise

LAST year’s Racing Post Trophy provided Michael Halford with his first ever Group One winner and this year’s renewal at Doncaster tomorrow could be won by a horse in the same ownership as Casamento was last year.

In the famous maroon and white of Sheikh Mohammed, Zip Top will line up for Kevin Manning and Jim Bolger and after Bolger sent out Parish Hall to spring a |surprise in the Dewhurst a fortnight ago, this could well |produce another shock.

Aidan O’Brien’s Camelot is likely to jump off favourite after a very impressive maiden win at Leopardstown back in July, but he hasn’t been seen since and there would be a slight chance he may lack the experience of his other rivals.

Bolger always has to be respected when sending something over from across the water and if you ignore Zip Top’s run in the Anglesley Stakes on yielding-to-soft ground, his form is good enough for him to be considered at 9/1.
