Two jockeys injured after Wolverhampton fall

Jockeys Martin Dwyer and Connor Beasley were taken to hospital yesterday following a nasty incident in the opening race at Wolverhampton.
The Bryan Smart-trained Cumbrianna, ridden by Beasley, fell over two furlongs from home in the Wolverhampton Tips At bookies.com Handicap, bringing down Dwyer on Sarah Hollinshead's Bilash.
Dwyer was stretchered off the track, but an air ambulance was called for Beasley which caused a delay to proceedings.
Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron said: "Both jockeys are conscious.
"Martin Dwyer was taken by road to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, he has an injury to his left forearm.
"Connor Beasley went by air ambulance to North Staffordshire in Stoke. He has a deep laceration to the left side of his neck caused by a kick."
Cumbrianna was put down following the incident.
Speaking from Pontefract, Smart said of the incident: "I just pray Connor's all right, more than anything.
"He's been air-lifted off. My assistant Kevin (Edmunds) has been on the phone and has kept me informed.
"I didn't see it as I was just arriving here. I understand they clipped heels."
Meanwhile, Nakuti increased her paddock value, much to the delight of owner Nelius Hayes, when taking Listed honours in the Weatherbys VAT Services Pipalong Stakes at Pontefract.
But while Hayes, who runs the Knockainey Stud, in Limerick, was able to witness the cosy victory, trainer Sylvester Kirk missed the key success as he was stuck in traffic.
The mission was accomplished in some style as Ben Curtis delivered Nakuti (11-1) with a powerful run after Pelerin had entered the straight with a healthy advantage.
Hayes said: "We came here looking for some black type so we've achieved the aim for the year before she retires."
