Steeler can be Supreme

Steeler's know-how of the difficult Goodwood terrain should stand him in particularly good stead for the Doom Bar Supreme Stakes.

Godolphin's colt has won twice on the Downs, when trained by Mark Johnston, and warmed up for this Group Three with a good effort back at the same track for the Betfred Mile. Madeed is respected when he takes the plunge in the Harwoods Group Handicap.

In theory, Brian Meehan's sparingly campaigned colt seemed to not quite get home on his first try over this mile-and-a-quarter trip towards the end of July. The son of Nayef finished third, beaten a length, but was possibly at the end of his tether late on as Lyn Valley took top honours.

The drop in distance at Yarmouth should do it for Flow, who contests the toteexacta Handicap.

Lady Cecil will also be satisfied that Flow has been left well alone on a mark of 92 for what appears his easiest challenge for quite some time.

Water Thief is a relatively optimistic shout to get off the mark at the third attempt when he goes for gold in the EBF Maiden Stakes at Beverley.
