Sole Power set to take Stand at 7/1

RYAN MOORE is unsurprisingly the long odds-on favourite to be crowned champion jockey at Royal Ascot next week and in tonight’s Betting Book we take a look at where the Irish winners may come from.

Where better to start than the very first race of the meeting where the much improved Nunthrope and Temple Stakes winner SOLE POWER will bid to add another Group One to his tally.

The four-year-old improved dramatically last season for Eddie Lynam and scored a notable victory last time and has to be there or there abouts in the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday at 7/1.

Aidan O’Brien’s juvenile POWER seems to be a likely and worthy favourite for the Coventry Stakes on the same day after showing plenty of guts to win the listed Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh last time out. He is a 7/2 shot.

On day two of the meeting, the racing world will stand and stare as the current Ballydoyle sensation SO YOU THINK lines up in the Prince Of Wales Stakes for which he is likely to be a very, very short price.

On Thursday, Fame And Glory and possibly Rite Of Passage headline in what is one of the feature races of the week, the Ascot Gold Cup.

Despite finishing behind Fame And Glory last time, Rite Of Passage ended that evening as favourite for this race, which he won last year for Dermot Weld, but an admission from Weld during the week that he may not get him there saw Fame And Glory go back favourite.

There are doubts over the trip for Fame And Glory so this will be a race to take a watching brief for from an ante post market perspective.

English and Irish 1000 Guineas bridesmaid TOGETHER will be hoping to go one better in Friday’s Coronation Stakes if Aidan O’Brien lets her take her chance.

Together was just touched off by Blue Bunting in Newmarket and then her stable companion Misty For Me last time and at around about a 5/1 shot she is another likely to attract each way players.

While Aidan O’Brien will hope to see the famous navy colours of the Magniers carried to victory by one of his charges next week, Charles O’Brien will also be hopeful he can manage something similar with BEWITCHED.

A progressive filly who won on her seasonal reappearance at Leopardstown last month, Bewitched is a big price at around 10/1 for the Golden Jubilee Stakes on the final day of the meeting.
