OWNER Clive Smith accepts retirement is the likely option for the great Kauto Star.
The Paul Nicholls-trained 12-year-old won a historic fifth King George VI Chase on St Stephen's Day, but was pulled up in the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
A decision on his future racing career will be made towards the end of the summer.
Smith said: "We'll probably have a look at him at the end of August.
"We'll probably retire him, but you just don't know yet.
"He's bouncing around and is in great shape."
Trainer Eamon Tyrrell's three-year suspension handed out by the British Horseracing Authority has been reciprocated by the Irish authorities.
The BHA ruled that jockey Jason Behan did not allow Casela Park to run on his merits at Newcastle on August 4, 2010.
Tyrrell will now be disqualified - from June 18 to October 6, 2013 - over here following a stop-start hearing which began on April 3. He must also pay €2,000 in costs.
