Short primed to Squeeze home

SHORT SQUEEZE can finally strike Listed gold in the Skybet Supporting The Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival Pomfret Stakes at Pontefract.

Hugo Palmer's charge notched a trio of handicap wins back in 2013 and those victories sent his rating soaring over the 100 mark, narrowing his range of options to only the top-class handicaps and Listed or Pattern heats.

Consequently, Short Squeeze has found life a bit tough of late, although he did manage a handicap win at York's Ebor meeting last summer when seeing off the similarly capable Top Notch Tonto.

MARGINAL

A trip to Dubai in the winter paid marginal dividends as he claimed one second place in three starts, but he certainly put his best foot forward on his British bow when edged out by one-time Classic hope Kodi Bear at Windsor.

He was beaten just three-quarters of a length in that Listed heat but the performance shows he is more than useful at this level.

CORNBOROUGH appeared to appreciate a step up to nine and a half furlongs at Carlisle last time and should be thereabouts in the Graham Rock Memorial Handicap.

MAYFAIR LADY looks a good shout for the Win A Mexican Holiday On Ladies Day Maiden Stakes after her rider appeared to drop her reins at Haydock last time. Beaten just a quarter of a length, despite that mishap, Mayfair Lady looks sure to open her account before long.
