JOCKEY Davy Russell rode his first winner since returning from surgery when Mr Cracker struck at Listowel.
Russell had been sidelined since the Punchestown Festival in April after he underwent an operation on a lung injury he suffered during the Cheltenham Festival.
The Irish champion jumps jockey looked a picture of health in the Kevin Broderick Memorial Handicap Chase when Mr Cracker (10/1) stretched a length and a half clear of Uncle Tom Cobley, who, like the winner, is owned by Gigginstown House Stud.
Russell said: "I'm only back riding out for the last two weeks but I kept busy doing things and kept an eye on my fitness.
"I find it too hard to let myself go completely when I'm out but there is nothing we can do to get us that fit without race-riding.
"The horse deserved it and he jumped well – I'm taking a bit more of a blow than him!"
