Rampant run at Chester gives Mabaany momentum

MABAANY looks the answer to a fascinating contest for the Wymeswold Conditions Stakes at Leicester.

Only six will go to post for the two-year-old event over seven furlongs but none can be ruled out with any confidence.

However, William Haggas' youngster Mabaany looks to have more potential than anything else after a 10-length victory at Chester last time out.

Sent off odds-on to beat only four rivals, he looked a bit green going round the bends but fairly powered clear once in the straight.

The highest rated horse on the card is Mahmood Al Zarooni's Zoowraa who looked very smart last season.

Trained by the late Michael Jarvis last season, she won a Redcar maiden before following up in the Radley Stakes at Newbury in some style.

She was sent off at 10-1 for the French 1000 Guineas, but she trailed home last of 16. But just her presence in that suggests the kind of regard in which she is held and the Wreake Fillies’ Conditions Stakes looks perfect for her comeback.

Ed McMahon's Went The Day Well absolutely flashed home on his debut at Haydock and natural progression will make him very hard to beat in the first division of the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Soar Maiden Stakes.

The winner, Roger Varian's Mazeydd, had long gone by the time the penny finally dropped for the son of Proud Citizen, but the way he finished his race suggests he will be a wiser proposition here.

It seems very significant that Kieren Fallon is at Newcastle to partner Goldream for Luca Cumani in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden.

Fallon is embroiled in a tussle with Paul Hanagan to be crowned champion jockey and whenever he takes on Hanagan in his own backyard, it should be noted.

After three runs Goldream has been given a mark of 79 but Cumani has chosen to stick to maidens and the hint should be taken.

Hanagan can maintain his advantage over Fallon on Godolphin's Saytara in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

In the Frimstone Secondary Granite Novices' Hurdle at Huntingdon, Amanda Perrett's Trovare, once decent on the level, can notch up another win in his new discipline.
