Owl can set heads spinning in thrilling final chapter

And so it ends. Galway's summer festival will come to an end tomorrow afternoon with another seven-race card in which we won't have to wait too long for the NAP selection.

JP McManus has had a great week at the meeting with Finger Onthe Pulse winning the Galway Plate and then 20/1 chance Wins Now claiming the Galway Blazers last night.

Tomorrow's beginners chase -- which has been noted as being a good race in the past -- features the selection Wise Old Owl who represents John Kiely and Prince Erik who was an epic second earlier in the week.

Dermot Weld is hard to oppose with anything around Galway, even if it only had three legs

But Prince Erik was the subject of one of the rides of the Festival from Robert Power despite the fact he could only finish second earlier this week as the horse just ran in snatches.

He may prove difficult to beat but Wise Old Owl had a nice run when debuting over fences at Tipperary and he may be the right one to stick with.

Connections have wasted no time going over fences and that is also a notable point. They may be rewarded for motoring on over the larger obstacles with success here.

The Evening Herald's Niall Madden enjoyed victory on the aforementioned Wins Now and he may be capable of signing the week off on a high courtesy of the Charles Byrnes-trained Jack Cool.

A poor run the last day can be ignored as a bad day at the office and Kalleshan's exploits this week prove that Byrnes' string are firing on all cylinders at the moment.

Paul Flynn is another man to keep an eye out on and his Pallasmore comes here in fine fettle. A recent win over fences was not enough to see him make the cut in the Galway Plate but it may all have been for luck as he is a pretty obvious choice in the 3.55 tomorrow.

He's Got Rhythm almost got David Marnane on the scoresheet earlier this week before he landed the bumper on Thursday.

But in the 3.25 He's Got Rhythm can make up for his short head defeat to round off what was an up-and-down week for the popular trainer.

Viking Visitor looks a horse for the future and a very tough one at that. He carries the colours of Paddy O'Connell and has been well placed by trainer Kieran Purcell who contests a tough winners bumper tomorrow, but he may be good enough to take it from some more fashionable stables.

Endearing can end the great Weld's terrific week at 4.25, while Abroad is making another appearance this week for James Leavy and will be hoping to go that bit better at 4.55.
