TRAINER Johnny Murtagh is hoping to get the new Flat season off to a flier at the Curragh on Sunday.
Murtagh is set to saddle three runners – We'll Go Walking, Purr Along and Calorie – on a card which marks his contribution to the sport.
The Johnny Murtagh Lifetime Achievement In Racing Madrid Handicap is recognition of his career so far.
He retired only last month as a jockey to concentrate on training after being at the top of his profession for more than 20 years.
He could even have a runner in that race, Calorie, though she also has an entry in the Elusive Pimpernel Maiden at the same fixture.
All three horses pleased Murtagh in their final pieces of work yesterday morning.
"They all worked very well and We'll Go Walking will take her chance in the Irish Lincolnshire," said Murtagh.
Purr Along, formerly trained by William Muir, holds an engagement in the Group Three Lodge Park Stud EBF Park Express Stakes.
The daughter of Mount Nelson was reported "well forward" by her trainer.
Murtagh said: "She is a lovely filly and there is a good chance that she will take her chance on Sunday as it is a Group Three race and is restricted to fillies.
"We will make our mind up nearer the time, but she would not run if the ground happened to come up heavy.
"Calorie is fit and well and is ready to start off.
"I will speak to the owner first before we decide which race she should go for."
