Jockey Cooper will be back in the saddle for weekend rides

Bryan Cooper expects to return to action at the weekend after giving up his rides at Tramore on New Year's Day.

Cooper suffered a fall from Analifet on Monday and suffered a wrist injury but continued riding to win a Grade One on Don Poli.

His rides on Wednesday aggravated the discomfort, though, and he has decided to make sure there are no problems ahead of the weekend.

"It's nothing serious," said Cooper.

"I just aggravated it yesterday and it could do with a couple of days rest.

"Two days off and I'll be fine for the weekend."

There was bad news for conditional jockey Ryan Hatch (pictured), though, as he is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken collarbone in a fall at Cheltenham on New Year's Day.

Hatch was partnering the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Little Jon in the BetBright Novices' Chase, better known as The Dipper, when he came to grief at the 12th fence.

Unfortunately for Hatch he missed the winning ride on Splash Of Ginge later on the card.

He had been due to ride Count Guido Deiro at Sandown on Saturday, but has been replaced by Jamie Bargary, who also stepped in for the mount on Splash Of Ginge.

His boss Twiston-Davies said: "He's broken his collarbone.

"We're hoping he'll be back in two weeks."
