It's good to see Carberry back

SHORTLY after the bumper at Punchestown on Sunday, an unusual sight appeared on a racecourse – Paul Carberry with a helmet and a stick.

Carberry was involved in the after-racing gallops for his boss Noel Meade and he returns to race riding at long last today at Fairyhouse.

Carberry was arguably riding as well as ever when we last saw him at Ballinrobe just days after the Punchestown Festival.

It's been 204 days to be precise and it's great to see Carberry back and Meade, Gordon Elliott and Tony Martin, to name just a few, will be delighted to avail of his services again.

Indeed, if you want to see Tony Martin like you have certainly never seen him before, Trim GAA on Saturday night is the place to be as Martin will be performing in a Strictly Come Dancing event in aid of Kildalkey GAA at which Paul Carberry will be a judge, so that should make for interesting viewing.

Doors open at 7pm on Saturday and it may well be standing room only for such a unique sight.
