ALAN KING'S leading RSA Chase hope Invictus today became the latest doubt for next weeks Cheltenham Festival, writes Niall Cronin.
The Reynoldstown Chase winner was as short as 6/1 in the betting for the RSA Chase behind Grand Crus. King’s six-year-old suffered a setback in training and the trainer said: “We will monitor the situation over the next 24 hours but though I have confirmed the entry for the RSA Chase, Invictus has a problem and there has to be a doubt as to whether he would run.”
Meanwhile, the participation of Kauto Star, next week’s most high profile doubt, could be made on Monday according to his owner Clive Smith.
Noises emanating from trainer Paul Nicholls’ Ditcheat base have been positive inside the last 48 hours and Smith believes the 12-year-old is “nearly there”.
