Wetter the better for Meadow as Alpha will be hard to beat
Everyone in racing writing a column like this has probably crossed the line of repeating themselves! It's just incredible to think we are going to Thurles today with firm in the description and we are just nine days away from the beginning of December.
Thankfully there has been more rain around this week and things are starting to change and I'm crossing my fingers that Gowran Park get all the rain that is forecast as I could have a nice book of rides there on Saturday.
For now I just have FORGE MEADOW (12.35, Thurles) to look forward to today but she's a very good ride to have. I'd be disappointed if she can't draw a winners cheque in the first race on the card.
Starting off at Galway she was going there with two 'Ps' on her form having pulled up on her last two runs over hurdles but I was always confident by her schooling at home that she would transform to something of her old form by going over fences.
She certainly did take a massive step forward at Galway and ran very well on her first run over the bigger obstacles last month.
Looking at Forge Meadow at home and I'd be confident that she he has improved for that run and she has come out of the race very, very well so I'd be very hopeful of a big run from her today.
We are hoping that a bit more rain will fall and just take the word firm out of the going description but she was by far the best of these over hurdles and if she can bring that form today I don't see any reason why Gordon's filly Mrs Lovett would reverse the Galway form.
Obviously it is very disappointing to see that only three horses were declared for the big race of the day but there is nobody to blame for that only Mother Nature!
The racecourses are doing all they can to keep the ground suitable but it is an impossible task to have it perfect with so little rain around so it would appear a good opportunity for ALPHA DES OBEAUX (1.05, Thurles).
Gordon is never afraid to back his horses up with quick runs and it made sense with such a small field to let Alpha Des Obeaux go again following his good run last week in the Clonmel Oil. Alpha Des Obeaux was second there and I would be surprised if he's overturned.
Colin Tizzard is just a small bit ahead of Jessie in getting his runners out because it has been a slow start to the season in England as well.
I was just touched off on one of Colin's yesterday at Chepstow but almost everything he is running that he thinks will run well has been running well and I might be back over to Ascot for the team tomorrow.
It won't be clear until this morning's declarations what is happening and I'd say the Tizzard's are hoping Ascot might get more rain to sway them to run a few.
HIGHEST SUN (Tomorrow) is one that I might be riding for them in the intermediate hurdle and the vibes are that everyone in Tizzard's think quite a bit of him.
He won in France before joining Colin so if I go over tomorrow he's one I'd be excited by.
