Heavy rain due ideal for Kauto -- Nicholls

Kauto Star's historic tilt at a fifth King George is now only days away and despite heavy rainfall forecast, trainer Paul Nicholls (pictured) insists that those conditions will be ideal for the dual Gold Cup winner who will be partnered by man of the moment Tony McCoy.

Money has come for The Nightingale, Kauto Star's stable mate who incidentally was the second leg of Ruby Walsh's double on the day he won on Kauto Star at Down Royal and also suffered the leg injury that has seen him sidelined since.

Barry Geraghty is due to ride Riverside Theatre for Nicky Henderson but the jockey has voiced concerns over the testing ground, while Henderson's other intended runner is the Robert Waley-Cohen owned Long Run, and the owners son Sam, who will ride the six-year-old as deemed Kauto Star at his best as "almost unbeatable".

Kerry trainer Tom Cooper looks set to book Robert Thornton to ride his stable star Forpadydeplasterer, while Henry de Bromhead is yet to decide if Sizing Europe will make the journey. David Pipe will have to replace his stable jockey Tom Scudamore on Madison Du Berlais after the jockey injured a kidney over the weekend.
