Diamond crew await Star sign

Connections of Diamond Harry are keen to see if Kauto Star will take his chance in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on November 27.

If the dual Gold Cup and four-time King George winner lines up in Berkshire, Nick Williams' Diamond Harry would be 12lb out of the handicap.



  • Were Kauto Star to go straight to the King George instead, Diamond Harry would only be 4lb out of the weights, with Denman setting the mark.

"The Hennessy is definitely the plan," said owner Paul Duffy.



  • "It would be a surprise if he (Kauto Star) did run but we'd have to judge it at the time.

"A lot of the other horses would be equally inconvenienced.



  • "We wouldn't want the ground that fast but he's not tied to the soft -- good to soft would be fine."
