PAUL DEEGAN has mapped out an ambitious plan of campaign for his smart staying mare Midnight Soprano.
The Curragh trainer has identified several targets, starting with the Group Three Irish Stallion Farms EBF Blue Wind Stakes at Naas on May 15, hopefully leading to the Irish St Leger at Deegan's local track in September.
"She came back late enough and had a real good winter at her owner's Jim Monaghan's. She's in great form," he said.
"We're really happy with her and she's already done a couple of little bits of work.
"The plan for her this year would be races like the Give Thanks, the Curragh Cup, the Noblesse and she'll finish up in the Irish St Leger and that will be her done then.
"There are four or five races for her. It would be nice if we could win another couple of Listed races with her, but we want to try to win a Group Three and then let her take her chance in the Irish Leger. Her first run back will be in a couple of weeks in the Blue Wind Stakes."
