Classy Captain Chris to obey orders for Hobbs

One of the abiding memories of the Cheltenham Festival was the form of the Philip Hobbs horses, and his good run can continue with Captain Chris in the Bet Multiples -- Betdaq "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Kempton.

Hobbs was on the mark with Menorah in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle and Copper Bleu in the Jewson Handicap, with a handful of others running with great credit last week.

The six-year-old, out of the classy mare Function Dream, has only had two starts under Rules, firstly finishing fourth in a bumper and then sauntering home by 20 lengths on his hurdling debut, both at Kempton.

Jockey Rhys Flint described him as one of the nicest horses he had sat on all season and the patience shown by connections can be rewarded.

Kauto The Kid has to be worth a second look in the Betdaq On 0870 178 1221 Novices' Handicap Chase.

A French import for Paul Nicholls, his form is only moderate but as a son of Kauto Relka he is a half-brother to the great Kauto Star. If he possesses only a modicum of his ability he will make a mockery of his introductory mark of 113.

Alison Thorpe's Secret Stash appeared to relish the step up in trip at Kempton three weeks ago and can continue on the upgrade in the Betdaq Betting Exchange Novices' Hurdle.

After winning a bumper last season at Chepstow in bottomless ground it was thought he needed those conditions to thrive, but that has not been the case. Racing on a sound surface for the first time this season, he bounded away from his rivals to win by 14 lengths. The runner-up from the Nicky Henderson yard is rated 120 so that was a fair performance and there should be more to come.

Tiger O'Toole hacked up at Taunton last week and it will be a shock if he is turned over in the Exeter Racecourse Conference Centre Handicap Hurdle.
