WE have the Group Two Debutante Stakes and the Group Two Futurity Stakes at the Curragh over the weekend and we are just starting to shape up into an important time of the season for two-year-olds.
In the Debutante Stakes, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Jim Bolger-trained filly Lucida, who runs in the Godolphin colours, and I think she could be definitely be a filly to follow after winning a listed race at Naas first time out.
Gleneagles looks like setting the standard in the Futurity, while it will be interesting to see what magic touch Aidan O'Brien can apply to Chicquita, who is the very talented but also quirky filly that won the Irish Oaks last year and broke records at the sales last winter. She runs in the Royal Whip Stakes which is a nice starting point for her.
John Oxx runs Streetcar To Stars in the Irish St Leger Trial, in which Forgotten Rules is due to line up, and he seems to be a very promising horse.
Our horse Streetcar To Stars was a little disappointing at Leopardstown but slow ground was definitely an issue and hopefully the rain stays away which will suit him. It looks like a real informative St Leger trial.
Finally, in the Ebor, I have liked the look of Pallasator for a while and since they have started to race up the middle at York, the draw has become less of an issue so I wouldn't be overly concerned that he is so wide.
