€17,000 lift for Capuchin centre

A total of €17,000 was raised for the Capuchin Centre, Church Street, Dublin at a Pre-Cheltenham Night in Westmanstown Sports Centre, where over 700 racegoers attended a hugely successful night.

This was the sixth year of the event, started by Dave Dowling and Fergus Healy, both Chief Superintendents in An Garda Siochana, with Paddy Power the main sponsor.

The panel included jockeys Ruby Walsh, Bryan Cooper and Davy Russell, trainer Willie Mullins and Paddy Power.

Brother Kevin Crowley spoke of the funding required to feed over 350 people for breakfast each morning and 500 for dinner, with over 2,000 food hampers distributed each Wednesday morning.
