OWEN Heary is delighted that Dubliner Eoin Wearen has decided to turn down a potential move to England and head to Sligo Rovers for next season.
Having impressed with Bohemians in the second half of last season, former West Ham man Wearen (right) was in demand and League One side Sheffield United has promised that a contract would be offered if he succeeded in a second trial spell. But new Sligo boss Heary has managed to lure Wearen west, the fourth member of last season's Bohemians squad to defect to Sligo with Heary.
"Sheffield United wanted him to come over so I was delighted to persuade him to come here given the fact that there was other Irish and English clubs after him," says Heary.
"He came up and seen the facilities here and what we are trying to do and the squad we are putting together and he was impressed with it.
"I am delighted we have got him over the line.
"He is a very, very talented player. He signed when he was young for West Ham and was there for four or five years so there is obviously a reason why he was there.
"Unfortunately he got injured so he came back last year with Bohs through the latter end of the season so I think people seen how good he was."
