DUBLIN champs, Na Fianna, had the perfect start to their Tesco Leinster Senior Club Championship campaign.
And it turned into a provincial hat-trick for Dublin clubs as Kilmacud Crokes and Clann Mhuire also won.
Crokes beat St Helen's of Longford in the Intermediate Championship at Stillorgan, while Mhuire travelled home from Kilkenny with a victory over Thomastown in the Junior Championship.
Na Fianna defeated the highly-regarded Shelmaliers of Wexford, 2-15 to 0-7, on the Mobhi Road last Saturday afternoon.
The Glasnevin girls led by 2-6 to 0-4 at half-time, the goals coming from Aoife Nolan and Orlagh Egan, and the hour saw Ciara Purdy impress.
"Ciara came up from the minor team. It was her championship debut, and she really relished the opportunity," explained Na Fianna mentor, Ray Dorney.
"She certainly stepped up to the plate and she gave an outstanding display."
Ray praised the conviction of the Dubs. "It was top-class all-round. The support play was fabulous. The girls never stopped working. The early goal settled us. And it was brilliant to make such a terrific start in the Leinster Championship after such a long break."
