Whitehall and Jude's survive to preserve senior status

ST JUDE'S and Whitehall Colmcille recorded Evening Herald Dublin Senior Football championship relegation play-off victories over Fingallians and St Mark's respectively at O'Toole Park yesterday to preserve their SFC status for 2012.

St Jude's were boosted by a 23rd-minute goal from Declan Donnelly and with Garreth Roche excelling defensively, they eased to a nine-point win with Shane Gallagher, Donnelly, Brendan McManamon and Dan Gallagher all making valuable scoring contributions throughout.



A John Bridgeman goal was pivotal in Whitehall's six-point victory over St Mark's and the winners were to indebted to strong individual displays by Gary McDonald, Paul Drumm, Ger Byrne and Shane O'Sullivan in addition to four points by Liam O'Donovan.

In AHL1, Stephen O'Connor and David O'Connor shared six points in a powerful midfield display as Ballyboden St Enda's boosted their league final prospects with a 6-20 to 3-9 win over Craobh Chiaráin at Sancta Maria.

Conor McCormack maintained his excellent recent form with a brace of goals, as did Emmet Carroll, with the remaining goals added by the impressive Simon Lambert and Niall Ryan.

Meanwhile in AFL2, Cuala booked their promotion play-off spot as goals from Eoghan Breathnach and Scott O'Brien ensured a comfortable 10-point win for the Dalkey men.

The Dublin MFC 'A' final between reigning holders, Ballyboden St Enda's, and Castleknock takes place tomorrow night in Parnell Park (7.30).

Castleknock will be attempting to capture the title for the first time in their history.

DUBLIN - SFC relegation: St Jude's 1-14 Fingallians 1-5; St Mark's 0-7 Whitehall Colmcille 1-10.

AFL2: Cuala 2-12 Erin's Isle 0-8.

AHL1: Ballyboden St Enda's 6-20 Craobh Chiaráin 3-9.

NOTE: THE Dublin senior footballers will be presented with their All-Ireland medals at a banquet in the Burllington Hotel on Sunday, December 18 (starts 7.30pm).
